![]() The black crappie has been transplanted so widely that it can be found throughout the United States and even into southern areas of Canada. Where to catch Black Crappieīlack crappies are native to most of the eastern half of the United States. ![]() The body of the black crappie is more rounded, whereas white crappies’ bodies are longer. The black crappie also has 7-8 dorsal spines, while the white crappie only has 6. White crappies have more subtle spots arranged in vertical bars on their sides. On a black crappie, the spots are irregular and scattered across the body. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is by looking at the pattern of the spotting. They have the same coloring and markings – dark olive or black with spotted silver sides. Small lures are good too. Both black and white crappies are often confused with one another. Recommend waxworms and a #2 hook on the slim bobber. So any advice for increasing my crappie catch rate per hour at least ? Or is there another lake with more of them that I can at least get up to say 10 an hour or so ? At this rate this challenge will take very long time. I am trying both #4 and #2 hooks with all their listed preferred baits, but I only catch lots of the pan fish and averaging about 2 white crappies an hour ( real-time ). I naturally targeted Lonestar as I don't want to waste travel money on little fish like this. But it turns out these small guys are not that easy to get. I came across the Crappie master one, which I thought at first " Ah this will be easy ".
